Guide to the Cedars Open Studios Tour

Cedars Open Studios Tour is an annual one-day, self-guided art tour through the historic Cedars neighborhood of Dallas, TX. For over two decades, the Cedars Artists have opened their studios, galleries, and creative spaces, giving the public a chance to connect with artists where they live and create.

Visitors can explore unique spaces, discover original art, watch live demos and performances, and take part in one of the most vibrant creative celebrations in the city.

Getting Around

    • Pick up a Commemorative Tour Booklet with Map.

    • Link to Digital Map from this page or scan the QR code from your mobile device.

    • Look for the Cedars Open Studios Banners and numbered STOP Yard Signs at participating locations.

    • Look for the nearest pick up location on the map.

    • Hours of operation 11:00am-7:00pm.
      *No transportation available after 7:00pm.

    • To schedule a ride, text 469-367-9060 with the following information

      • Your Name

      • # of passengers

      • Pick up location # and drop off location #

    • During peak times, if your text does not go through, please wait at a shuttle stop. Carts will pick up passengers as available.

  • Free parking is available at several locations noted on the printed map. The Free Shuttle Service can get you around more efficiently. If you prefer driving around, consider carpooling to maximize space near busy stops.

  • Join Bike Friendly Cedars for a guided ride. Meet at 1510 McKee Street at 10:30 AM to tour the neighborhood on two wheels.

    • Dress comfortably. While transportation is provided, there will still be lots of walking.

    • Bring cash or cards—most artists accept both.

    • Tag your photos with #CedarsOpenStudios to share the love!

    • Visit any of the Information Booths if you need help or directions.

Something for Everyone

Artists on the Cedars Open Studios Tour display works in an incredible variety of artistic mediums. Encounter everything from traditional oil painting, watercolor, and drawing to contemporary sculpture, ceramics, mixed media. Find photographers capturing bold urban moments, fiber artists weaving color and texture, and printmakers using age-old techniques to tell modern stories.

In addition, there are public mural, sculpture parks and experimental installations that blur the line between art and experience.

Whether a casual browser or a seasoned collector, the range of mediums and subject matter ensures there's something to fit every space and style.

Introducing Zip Art!: Color Your Journey – a creative twist on a tour favorite!

Cedars Open Studios has partnered with The Cedars Union to bring you the first-ever interactive Zip Art! Project

Patrons who have attended previous tours may remember the Bingo Quest, where visitors collected stamps at sponsor locations to earn free drinks and prizes at the closing celebration. This year, the tradition evolves to give every attendee the chance to flex your creativity and become an artist for the day.

  • As you explore the tour, look for the twelve Zip Art! stations at participating sponsor locations. (See MAP for details)

  • Use the provided paper and crayons to make colorful impressions from the textured plates. Each one is a unique piece that will come together to create a complete image!

  • Create at least FIVE (5) layers and present your qualifying sheet at the Closing Celebration at Four Corners Brewing Co. to receive one (1) FREE Beer (21+) ~ then toast to your creativity!

  • Participants with qualifying sheets will also be entered for a chance to win a $25 Four Corners Brewing Co. Gift Card, exclusive Cedars Open Studios Tour Merch and more!

What happens if you don’t get a chance to complete your Zip Art! during the Tour?

Don’t worry! AlL 12 plates will be available to complete your Zip Art! masterpiece at the Closing Celebration.

Wrap up your day of art and exploration with good vibes, great company, and live music by Justin Cashion at Four Corners Brewing Co. from 6:30 PM–8 PM.

Enjoy a FREE drink (if you visited and completed the required number of stops on the Art Zip! ), groove to the tunes, and finish any remaining layers of your souvenir art project — all 12 Art Plates will be available to complete your masterpiece.
