Cedars Open Studios is honored to have Purva Chawla of Spazzatura Disegno as the 2025 Tour Featured Artist. A Dallas-based sustainability expert, academic, and mixed-media artist, Purva’s work transforms industrial and consumer waste into sculptural forms that challenge our perceptions of beauty and value. With a background in architecture and deep experience in material innovation, she brings a rare and timely perspective to the art world—one that honors both aesthetics and environmental urgency.
Purva’s work speaks to the influence of our times—where climate anxiety, consumerism, and resource depletion are ever-present—and responds with a practice rooted in circular design. Her art draws from complex waste streams: fractured toys, offcuts, packaging, and discarded tools metamorphosed into glimmering, organic forms that echo the natural world. In honoring materials others discard, she invites viewers to reflect on what we value, what we waste, and how we might reimagine both. Her selection as the 2025 Featured Artist reflects the spirit of now—where artists are increasingly called to be both creators and stewards.
