Registration Tips & Info

  • For studios or galleries hosting multiple artists, one designated Studio Manager should complete the registration on behalf of the group.

    At the time of registration:
    • Please include the full list of participating artists

    Fees & Payment:
The Studio Manager is responsible for:
    • Paying the Location Fee for the studio
    • Collecting and/or submitting the $15 per artist Admin Fee for each participating artist

Gather all artist information and payments prior to registering to help streamline the process.

  • Q: What is a Sponsor Location?
A: A Sponsor Location is a studio, gallery, business, or organization within the Cedars neighborhood that monetarily supports the Tour.

Q: Do I register the same way as other artists?
A: Yes, artists exhibiting at a Sponsor Location should register using the Artist at Sponsor Location link. Be sure to list the name and address of your Sponsor Location when registering.

Q: Is there a fee to exhibit at a Sponsor Location?
A: Yes. Artists are responsible for the $15 per Artist Registration Fee as well as the Artist Upgrade Fee (if desired). Some locations may choose to cover additional artists costs. Contact your Studio Manager to confirm.

Q: Can I upgrade my listing if I’m at a Sponsor Location?
A: Yes! Artists showing at Sponsor (as well as multi-artist) Locations are eligible to purchase an Artist Upgrade, which includes all perks of an Individual Artist as well as a full set of printed materials. Register individually using the Artist Upgrade form.

Q: Who should I contact with questions about my Sponsor Location?
A: For general tour questions or if you need help connecting with a Sponsor Location, email  artists@cedarsopenstudios.org. For sponsorship-related questions, the contact is sponsors@cedarsopenstudios.org.

  • Q: What does the Artist Upgrade include?
A: Upgrading your listing gives your work expanded visibility across all Cedars Open Studios promotional platforms. You’ll receive:

    • full color image of one selected piece in the printed tour booklet

    • featured listing on the Cedars Open Studios website

    • Multiple artwork images showcased in digital promotions and social media

    • Enhanced presence on the interactive tour map

    Q: I’m already part of a Multi-Artist Studio—why upgrade individually?
A: The studio listing gets your name on the map, but an individual upgrade spotlights you and your art. Think of it as moving from the group photo to a full-page feature—it’s your moment to shine.

Q: Do I need to be part of a Multi-Artist Studio or Sponsor Location to upgrade?
A: Yes. The upgrade is available only to artists showing at a registered Multi-Artist Location (2 or more artists sharing a space). If you’re showing solo at your own studio, your standard listing as an Individual Artist Studio already includes full booklet and website features.

Q: Is the upgrade worth it?
A: If you're looking to build your audience, attract collectors, or increase your professional visibility, the upgrade gives you more space to share your story, show your work, and stand out.

    Q: How do I upgrade?
A: Once your Studio Manager has registered your location, simply fill out the Artist Upgrade Registration form individually.

  • Best Practices for Your Cedars Open Studios Profile

An artist statement helps visitors, collectors, and curators connect with your work beyond the visual. It’s not about “explaining” your art—it’s about offering a window into your creative world.

    What to Include:

    • What drives your work: Share why you create and what inspires you.

    • Process or materials: Mention anything interesting or unique about how your work comes to life.

    • Themes or ideas: Let the viewer know what you’re exploring through your art—emotionally, conceptually, or visually.

    • Your voice: Keep it clear and personal. Write like you’re having a real conversation.

    Try to avoid:

    • Artspeak or academic jargon

    • Long bios disguised as statements

    • Grand, vague claims (“I change the world through paint.”)

    • Telling people what they should see in your work

    Keep it Short & Honest:

1–2 thoughtful paragraphs is plenty. Aim for 100–200 words. You don’t need to say everything—just enough to invite curiosity and connection.

    Need Inspiration?

Think about the last piece of art that stopped you in your tracks.
What would you want to know about the artist?

Now, answer that for your own work.
